- *Abstract
-
This novel micro-sensor system is ideal for use in detection of disease-associated antigens as it is highly sensitive, specific, efficient, and can be used for a multitude of diagnostic purposes.
The premise of this unique sensor design is to rely on breaking of a pre-formed complex bound with an antibody via competitive interactions with an analyte (an immunogenic protein). In this strategy, the pre-established complex exhibits a lower binding constant. The sensor design will rely on the dissociation of the pre-formed complex with an antibody both as a means of achieving sensor selectivity and specificity, and as its signal transduction mode.
This technology holds several advantages:
? High sensitivity due to the unique intrinsic amplification method
? Fast detection using minute sample volumes
? Individual detection elements designed for specific disease-associated antigens
? Ideal for clinic or hospital where a large number of specific analyses are done
