USF inventors have refined the chemistry and properties of hydrogel scaffolds to promote the cellsΓÇÖ differentiation into multiple lineages by constructing PCG hydrogels. The PCG hydrogels significantly enhanced adipogenic, chondrogenic, and osteogenic differentiation of BM-MSCs. The biodegradable and biocompatible 3D PCG hydrogelwas prepared in less than five minutes at room temperature, illustrating the feasibility ofproduction. The results from our inventors indicate that the PCG hydrogels have an important potential in clinical applications and cell culturing.

At the University of South Florida have developed a method to improve the differentiation efficiency of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) to all lineages by using three dimensional (3-D) polyethylene glycol-chitosangraphene (PCG) hydrogels.
