Low Current Surface Flashover Triggering System
- Summary
- Researchers at Purdue University have developed a triggering system for electric micropropulsion systems. The system incorporates a low current surface flashover and is capable of operating reliably for a large number of triggering events. This device would be used in micropropulsion systems but can be part of an entire micropropulsion system.

- *Background
- Micropropulsion is an enabling technology for microspacecraft operations by making missions possible that otherwise could not be performed. Numerous methods are available for triggering systems in micropropulsion systems. However, current solutions cannot operate reliably for a large number of triggering events. There is need of a method for improving reliability of these triggering systems.
