This technology used a smart chair, refered to as Care-Chair, to do three main functions through pressure and other sensors embedded in the chair to collect data. First, the chair can collects data to estimate user breathing rate while the user is seated and still. The chair is also used to identify sedentary activities like talking, sneezing, coughing, drinking, eating, hiccups and so on as well as emotional actions like crying, laughing, weeping, shouting, yawning, or yelling. Finally, the chair can also gather data to do an assessment of the user's cognitive health performance using a standard questionnaire in addition to the assessment through correctness of answer. This innovations is aiming to generate a score of the user's emotional performance through the screening questionnaires. The Care-Chair is designed to be used in hospitals and even at home.
