Background
Optical frequency combs have broad technology implications to optical-microwave clockwork, navigation sensing, ultrashort pulse formation, and optical communications. Using readily available ultrafast mode-locked lasers, higher frequencies of light can be emitted and detected. Breathing pulse evolution along the cavity, through dispersion management, could broaden the scope of mode-locking physics.
