- Magnet for small footprint MRgRTCustomized magnet (shapes/sizes) for other MR (non-radiotherapy)applications
- Detailed Technology Description
- Low-cost reduced field-of-view MR system for MRgRT
- *Abstract
-
Physicists at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre’s Radiation Medicine Programhave developed a new MR magnet and coil configuration which is intended tosignificantly simplify, and reduce the cost of LINAC-based MR-guided radiationtherapy (MRgRT) systems. The configuration uses a fringe-field magnet designproducing a reduced imaging field-of-view optimized for patient set-up andreal-time tumor tracking applications. The optimized design is capable of beinggantry mounted, can fit in existing LINAC vaults, and provides a high degree ofpatient comfort and accessibility. Stand-alone versions can support non-LINACbased image-guided RT (HDR, etc.) or other non-RT interventional applications. The technology may be the enabler of volume MRgRT adoption by bringing down thecost of current MRgRT systems in development.
