Rapid conductance based analysis for patch clamp sensors

Detailed Technology Description
Title: Rapid Conductance Based Analysis for Patch Clamp Sensors Invention: The invention is a data acquisition and analysis protocol for ligand-ion channel interactions. The approach allows for the quantification of ligand concentrations in less than 30 milliseconds. This approach can monitor rapid, dynamic chemical processes in a feasible manner. Background: Ion channels have been researched as an option for label-free detection of analytes without optical or electrochemical activity. The process begins with binding of the target analyte to an ion channel to change the ion flux, which can be detected electrochemically. This is important in measuring dynamic biological processes that occur on the milliseconds to seconds timescale but unfortunately there has been little work done in creating ion channel sensors with rapid activity and sensitivity.  Applications:Research centersAcademic laboratoriesBiotechnology companiesDiagnostic assay companies Advantages:Provides faster data collectionApplicable to natural and artificial membranesProtocol is repeatable with consistent results Licensing Manager: Laura SilvaLauraS@tla.arizona.edu(520) 626-1557
