Aptly named, the 'Prelude' red raspberry starts the harvest season. Ripening in late June and early July, this cultivar is the earliest of the summer-bearing reds. This early fruiting gives growers the advantages of premium first fruit prices and season extension. A hardy and vigorous plant, 'Prelude' consistently produces high quality fruit. Berries are round, firm, and attractive, with a mild pleasant flavor. 'Prelude' is ideally suited to be first-to-market for U-Pick and farm market operations.
