DNA Construct to Confer Multiple Traits on Plants
- Detailed Technology Description
- A method and material for producing disease-resistant transgenic plants.
- *Abstract
-
A method and material for producing disease-resistant transgenic plants. A DNA construct formed from the fusion of a trait DNA sequence and a silencer DNA sequence. The trait DNA sequence per se is of insufficient length to impart the trait to the plant but when operatively connected to the silencer sequence, the plant is imbued with disease resistance. Particularly useful in creating transgenic plants that are multiple-virus resistant through a stacking of "PDR-type" resistance traits. The method may also be useful in controlling other traits such as color or enzyme production.
