This invention is a novel class of polymers with semi-fluorinated side groups that will be useful in a variety of applications where low-energy surfaces are needed. Because these polymers resist surface reconstruction, they are distinguished by their ability to maintain stable low-energy surfaces even when exposed to water for long periods. Coating, bulk, or film forms may be produced, and the polymers may be extruded, co-extruded, spin-coated, dip-coated, or laminated. Possible applications include non-wetting, low-friction, and anti-graffiti coatings.
