Mouse hybridoma (clone M17) for production of a monoclonal antibody (mAb) against full-length mouse tctex-1 (1). Tctex-1 is the light subunit of dynein, involved in cargo-binding in neurons. Tctex-1 was recently shown to be a marker of neural progenitor cells (2). The mAb recognizes an N-terminal epitope on tctex-1. Mouse tctex-1 shares 93% amino acid sequence identity with its human homolog. The mAb cross-reacts with tctex-1 of rat, and human origin.
Anti-tctex-1 antibodies have been used as neuroscience reagents to study neurogenesis (3), and cytoskeletal remodeling (4) and dynamics (5,6). However, due to the wide organ expression of Tctex-1 (EST profile is here) (7) anti-Tctex-1 mAbs are also useful reagents outside of the field of neuroscience (8).
Anti-tctex-1 mAbs applications: Western blot, immunoprecipitation, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence.
Modified Figure excerpt from (1). Immunofluorescent staining of a developmental stage 3 cultured primary mouse hippocampal neuron with anti-tctex-1 mAb and an Alexa 594-conjugated goat anti-mouse secondary antibody. Arrows point at tctex-1 staining within the cell body and growth cone.
