- *Abstract
-
This invention relates to a line of lighting devices that incorporate waste from their production into the lamps themselves. Waste aluminum, known as swarf, which is left after turning a component on a lathe, has been incorporated by the designer as a diffuser for the bulb. The swarf diffuser provides a softened illumination effect while creating an unusual visual relationship by balancing the fabricated component and waste material within a single object. In addition to its obvious "green" appeal, the lamp is a functional and artistic lighting device.
