Polyurea aerogels were prepared in one step via sol-gel reaction of an alphatic triisocyanate and water. Notwithstanding the inherent hydrophylicity of the dense polymer (water contact angle =69.1+_0.2) , texture-related super-hydrophobicity was impared with no use of templates via rational design of the gelated process. Morphostructurallyt, the material consists of solid polymeric microspheres entrapped in nanofiber web. Water droplets (5ml) form contact up to 150 and stick to the surface when the substate is tuned upside-down (Petal effect). Monolith display texture-related oleophilicity in inverse order to hydrorophobicity, hold a high capacity for oil absorption (>10:1w/w), float on water and can be harvested.
