*Abstract
The following is a method to prevent the formation ofbiofilm on titaniumimplants for use in mammals. The fOllnation ofbiofilm is inhibited by a thinlayer ofbiocompatible glass that reacts in hydrated envirorunents such as the bodyfluids and releases ce11ain biofilm inhibiting ions. The reactive biocompatibleglass layer converts to an amorphous and or crystalline ceramic material such ashydroxyapatite and acts as a barrier between living tissue and the titaniumimplant.
