Title: Impedance measurement using line-to-line current injection
Usefulness: Impedance measurement using line-to-line current injection
Summary: Method for measuring impedance in three-phase AC circuit used in power systems used in e.g. naval ship, aerospace.
Novelty: Method for measuring impedance in three-phase alternating current (AC) circuit involves calculating impedance of source portion and load portion of three-phase AC circuit using two sets of transformed voltages and transformed currents

-
This invention is a process whereby a single-phase current can be injected between two lines of a three-phase ac system for the purpose of measuring source and load impedances (source and load are defined by the point at which the current is injected). Besides the injection and signal demodulation process, this invention details a practical current injection device which is a simple power electronic circuit. The circuit is also capable of injecting currents in a dc system for impedance measurement. Impedances can be measured over a wide range of frequencies for applications such as machine parameter measurement and power system stability assessment.
