Distributed Synchronous Backplane and Clocking Method
- Detailed Technology Description
- This invention will provide a method of synchronizing distributed systems. Specifically, this invention targets the clocking structures required by spatially separated printed circuit boards in large computing or switching systems. As clock speeds and data transmission rates increase, and as the amount of traffic through networks increase, methods for synchronizing many parallel data paths will be crucial. In order to cut down on the latency and relatively low speeds of present day backplane and bus structures, the number of data paths must drastically increase and the rate at which the data moves must also increase.
