Antisera to MEF2 proteins
- Summary
- Lead Inventors: Ronald Michael Prywes, PhDProblem or Unmet Need:The MEF2 family of transcription factors is highly expressed in the brain when neurons undergo dendritic maturation and synapse formation. MEF2A is especially abundant in granule neurons of the cerebellar cortex throughout the period of synaptogenesis. MEF2A has key roles in cardiac and skeletal muscle development. Myocyte enhancer factor 2 (MEF2) transcriptional regulatory proteins are also key regulators of muscle-specific gene expression and also play a general role in the cellular response to growth factors, cytokines and environmental stressors. MEF2B are MADS-box transcription factors that are thought to regulate expression of many muscle related genes during development. They are also thought to be involved in differentiation of certain neurogenic cells. MEF2D is thought to be involved in the differentiation of myogenic and also some neurogenic cells. It is the only member of the MEF2 family that is present in undifferentiated myoblasts, suggesting that it may play a role in the very early stages of myogenic development. MEF2D has also been implicated in T cell apoptosis and lymphoblastic leukaemia. This is rabbit antisera to MEF2 proteins. Antigen: myocyte enhancer factor 2A (MEF2A) recombinant protein fragment (amino acids 272-491), recombinant protein corresponding to amino acids 243-365 of human MEF2B (myocyte enhancer factor 2), recombinant protein corresponding to amino acids 292-514 of mouse MEF2D (myocyte enhancer factor 2D) Antibody type: rabbit polyclonal
- Technology Benefits
- Highly specific and immunohistochemistry- and immunoprecipitation-competent sera that can be used for accuracy.
- Technology Application
- This polyclonal sera detects both human and murine forms of MEF2 and has been tested for EMSA, IP, and WB applications.
