This method uses magnetic resonance imaging by spatial modulation of magnetization to establish a frame of reference in the form of tag lines on the resulting image.The method of inducing tag lines in an MRI image involves determining a desired tag line width. A gradient field is applied to the specimen to be imaged. Then a modulated RF pulse train is applied to the specimen being imaged before an image acquisition operation is performed.The method avoids a non-uniform gradient which causes aliasing. Various parameter of a SINC modulating function, such as main lobe bandwidth can be selected.
