System and method for dynamic space management of a display space
- Summary
- Lead Inventors: Blaine BellSystem and method for managing a workspace during the addition and removal of objects from the workspace, is disclosed. The method involves allocating full-space rectangles of the workspace, where the rectangles are represented by data structures. The rectangles are permitted to overlap and subsequent data structures are defined to represent the largest empty-space rectangles available on the workspace. Subsequently, adding a new full-space rectangle and deleting/moving an existing full-space rectangle are performed based on the data structures. The method for managing a workspace, such as display space on a user interface is efficiently applied to electronic display, such as cathode ray tube, liquid crystal display, and the like, which is operatively coupled to a computer system or other electronic device.
