-
Dr. Bahl from the University of IL has proposed a new method to broaden the bandwidth of chip-scale optomechanical systems that are used for optical communication. The method employs the newly discovered non-reciprocity principle of Brillouin Stimulated Induced Transparency (BSIT). By replacing optical pump with acoustic drive, the bandwidth could be broadened to MHz level, enabling realistic magnet-free on-chip application.
