- *Abstract
-
Researchers from the University of Illinois and Washington University have developed a new design for injectable class of cellular-scale optoelectronics with wireless and programmed control of complex behavior over freely moving animals in elaborate environmental contexts. The ability of these ultrathin, mechnically compliant, biocompatible devices to afford minimally invasive operation in the soft, time-dynamic tissues of the mammalian brain foreshadow applications in other organs systems, with potential for broad utility in biomedical science and engineering.
