Novel method and apparatus for determination of three dimensional electromagnetic fields interacting with complex shaped objects.
- Detailed Technology Description
- A new method of analysis and design of electrical systems and devices. This provides a way to model electrical interference within objects and is equally applicable to radar imaging of layered surfaces such as snow pack or geologic strata.
- *Abstract
-
A new single-source integral equation for solution of electromagnetic wave scattering problems. The traditional volume electric field integral equation is reduced to a single-source surface integral equation by representing the electric field inside the scatterer as a superposition of spherical waves emanating from its boundary. Advantages are: it is rigorous, of half of the degrees of freedom compared to previous surface integral equation formulations, and it is simpler in both formulation and the numerical solution, compared to the previously known single source integral equations.
The equation solution has only electric-field-type of Green's function instead of both electric and magnetic field Green's functions.
This of particular application in analyzing scattering in layered media is analyzed.
This invention was previously developed for 2D scattering problems only, and can now be applied to 3D cases.
The solution compares fully to the Mie series exact analytical solution.
