Method for Multiplex Analysis and Sorting of Mixtures of Cells and Related Compositions of Matter
- Detailed Technology Description
- Scientistsat the University of Delaware have invented novel genetically-encoded,surface-displayed protein "barcodes" which can be used for multiplexedanalysis or sorting mixtures of cells. Each barcode produces a uniquefluorescent signature when immunolabeled with fluorophore-conjugated antibodies, allowing for the unique identification of cell populations by flow cytometry. Barcodetechnology greatly increases the efficiency of analysis and sorting of genetically modified cells and expressedproteins through multiplexing. The invention allows for the analysis to be carriedout on a massively parallel scale, dramatically reducing cost and effortrequired to perform such activities.
