- The technology is a first of its kind comprehensive solutionfor efficient spectral dispersion of sunlight for Photovoltaic applications.The hallmark component of this technology is an innovative ultra-compact,high-efficiency Dispersive Lens that spectrally splits the incident sunlightonto laterally positioned multiple band-gap PV cells. The Dispersive Lens, which has a physicalprofile and weight similar to a conventional refractive or Fresnel lens, embedsdispersive micro-optical layers that efficiently spread the solar spectrum withminimum thickness. The novelmicro-optical concept integrates the concentration and spectral dispersionfunctions in a thin optical layer consisting of inexpensive lightweightelements.
