Method for Detection and Quantification of Cryptic Replication in HIV Using 2-LTR Based Measurements
- Detailed Technology Description
- This invention is a method forthe detection and quantification of cryptic replication in HIV. The durabilityand effectiveness of current treatment options such as Highly ActiveAntiretroviral Therapy (HAART) or reservoir flushing methods may be influencedby the rates of ongoing viral replication that are below the standard limit ofdetection. This diagnostic tool addresses the current problem with detectingthe continuing replication of HIV in anatomically remote compartments thatcannot be measured with other techniques, such as plasma HIV RNA PCRmeasurements.
