Web-Based Platform for Collaborative Shape Design
- Summary
- Researchers at Purdue University have developed a web-based and platform-independent system to collaboratively and synchronously create, delete, and edit CAD designs. The system sends data based on a client's privileges in order to reduce the network load. The front end of the program is located at the client site and the server has the solid modeler and the constraint solver.

- *Background
- Many commercial packages are offered for collaborative product shape design, but they require considerably broader capabilities than simple collaborative applications. These methods cause project delays and duplication of information that in turn cause delayed product revenues and increased costs.
