Method for the Removal of Fluoride From Water

Detailed Technology Description
Executive Summary Toxic levels of fluorine in drinking water arise from two different sources, naturally from the rock bed and artificially from commercial processing and waste.  Fluoride removal processes are too costly and labor intensive for many developing countries.  MSU researchers have discovered a new material that allows for efficient fluoride removal with significantly cheaper materials or waste materials from other industrial processes.     Description of Technology Currently, this technology is intended to be used in portable/small-scale systems for low cost clean drinking water access for local African and Mexican communities.  This technology uses waste materials with no alterations to remove fluorine from water at an uptake of 1g fluorine/1g waste material.  The fluorine-waste complex is removed by simple filtration.  Key BenefitsSimple process: waste material can be used for fluoride removal.Removes fluorine from water  ApplicationsFluorine removal from water.Small-Scale use in home filtration systems. Patent Status:   Under review Licensing Rights Available Full licensing rights available Inventors: Daniel R.
