- Our researchers have discovered a significant association between 3 tightly linked polymorphisms in the gene SLC1A1, which encodes for the neuronal glutamate transporter. This gene is highly expressed in brain regions implicated in Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). The identification of the presence of these polymorphisms in the SLC1A1 gene allows for the search and identification of novel therapeutic compounds capable of modulating the expression of SLC1A1 and alleviating OCD symptoms.
