- *Abstract
-
Early detection of bacteria, such as P. aeruginosa, is critical in preventing serious infections in patient. Currently available devices are too big to be used in places such as ventilator tubes and bandages. Moreover, alternative available techniques such as PCR are used only for confirmation of the presence of infection. These techniques do not provide early notification of the infection or of the causative agent. This approach discloses the development and use of a novel micro-fabricated electrochemical sensor device for an early detection of P. aeruginosa infection.
