Low Cost Algorithm for Precise Clock Synchronization in Networked Systems
Low-overhead clock synchronization in a wide range of network environmentsCan be hard-coded onto network cards or in embedded systemsEqually applicable to synchronize clocks in sensor / actuator networks
Provides timing service to support electronic financial transactions, e.g. on high frequency trading platformsPrecise time measurement for real-time media streaming over the networkRemote control over networksSynchronizing to support machine-to-machine communication in smart grid
A low cost method to determine where bottlenecks occur in a network, how much signal delay results, and in which direction the delay occurs. The method enables measuring of the ΓÇ£unknownΓÇØ and the ΓÇ£variableΓÇØ delays that underlie synchronization error, and have heretofore only been measurable with expensive methods and materials (e.g. Ethernet cables meeting the 1588 standard). Our technology is an algorithm available as a pseudo code, which can easily be adapted to the specific requirements of any operating system.
