Problem: Improving the ionic conductivity of the membraneTechnology: This invention uses the layer-by-layer technique to prepare tunable films for use in lithium ion battery separators. The number of bilayers can be selected to control thickness. Polyelectrolyte chemical structure can be selected to control ionic conductivity and lithium-ion transference number. These multilayers can be formed using the dipping approach or the spraying approach.
