BackgroundThe process of selecting residents for graduate medical education residency programs is a challenging and time-consuming process. Individual applicants vary widely in their attributes and residency programs differ in the types of applicants that they are seeking out.TechnologyThe RANC program allows users to enter data for each applicant and calculates a score based on the weighting of each factor. This creates a ranking of each applicant that can be used to compare and find the most qualified candidates. The data that is focused on was derived from core medical faculty members that chose areas of competency that define a good candidate. The program is password protected and stored on a secured database which allows confidential information to be stored safely. It allows for each included factor's weight to be adjusted based on the preferences of the residency program.Advantages1. Allows confidential information to be stored safely2. Provides flexibility in choosing factors to include and in the weights attached to each factor3. Produces a list of the most qualified and experienced candidate saving both time and money in the applicant screening process4. Provides consistency in the selection processCopyright
