B-14 Development of Versatile Eco-Friendly RNA Pesticide

Technology Benefits
ΓùÅ No toxicity to off-target animals.ΓùÅ Specificity of dsRNA pesticide can be controlled from stringently targeting a specific to broad range of pests.ΓùÅ dsRNA based pesticide works at very low dose.ΓùÅ The emergence of the resistance to dsRNA pesticides is unlikely. Even if it appeared, just changing dsRNA sequence again targets these pests.ΓùÅ dsRNA pesticide is environmental friendly.ΓùÅ No post-harvest problems.
Technology Application
ΓùÅ Insect pests control agent in crop field and household.ΓùÅ Target range: insects, mites, nematodes, slugs/snails
Detailed Technology Description
The researchers fed dsRNA to various pest insects. This dsRNA is designed to target and suppress the function of an essential gene for the survival of the insects. Immediately after feeding the dsRNA, the insects stopped eating and growth, and died within few days, while there was no effect on the insects fed with control dsRNA.

Title: INSECT PEST CONTROL METHOD | PROCÉDÉ DE LUTTE CONTRE LES INSECTES NUISIBLES
Usefulness: INSECT PEST CONTROL METHOD | PROCÉDÉ DE LUTTE CONTRE LES INSECTES NUISIBLES
Summary: The method is useful for controlling insect pest chosen from Epilachna vigintioctopunctata , Harmonia axyridis , Oxya yezoensis , Helicoverpa armigera and Blatta . The target insect pest is an agricultural insect pest, unsanitary insect pest or harmful insect. The target insect pest is an insect of order Coleoptera, Orthoptera, Lepidoptera or Blattodea and family coccinellidae, catantopidae, noctuidae or blattidae (all claimed).
Novelty: Controlling insect pest e.g. Epilachna vigintioctopunctata, involves ingesting inhibitor of apoptosis into body of target insect pest
