B-06 Multifunctional Envelope-Type Nanodevices for Gene Delivery

Technology Benefits

ΓùÅ Quick, easy and contamination free: on-chip method takes less than 1/2 hour to fabricate MEND while conventional methods take 2 days.ΓùÅ Controllable size: by adjusting flow rate on the chip, the MEND size can be controlled. ΓùÅ Micro-fabrication: a much smaller size can be achieved than by conventional methods.

Technology Application

ΓùÅ Gene therapyΓùÅ Gene delivery for plant cellsΓùÅ Gene modified food ΓùÅ Gene delivery for stem cellsΓùÅ Tissue engineering ΓùÅ Cell engineering

Detailed Technology Description

Multifunctional Envelope -Type Nanodevices (MEND) is one of the promising non-viral vectors for gene therapy. Though MEND has strength in prolonged blood circulation, low immunogenic response, and gene targeting, it requires labor intensive preparation for its fabrication. In this invention, a substrate contains at least three feeding microchannels converge into one reaction microchannels has established. By using this method, positively charged small capsule can be effectively produced by just injecting small amount of DNA/RNA/Peptide, cationic compound and water into each inlets. The microcapusuls can be obtained from outlet in 10 minutes. This positively charged multifunctional envelope can be transfected into the cells even more efficiently by adding any kinds of ligand to the envelope by using same method.
