Whitehead Intellectual Property Office is seeking a licensee for the invention, ΓÇ£Mediator and cohesion connect gene expression and chromatin structureΓÇØ. The DNA loop structure is essential for regulating the activity of cell-type specific genes and thus maintaining cell state. Deficiencies in the protein complexes that help form and reinforce these DNA loops can cause multiple syndromes and diseases, including FG syndrome, Lujan-Fryns syndrome and Cornelia de Lange syndrome. Researchers in the laboratory of Rick Young at the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research have found that the DNA loop structure essential for gene activation is generated and reinforced by protein complexes called Mediator and Cohesin.
