This invention is a detector that can be used to identify neutrons emitted during the spontaneous fission of plutonium. An embodiment of this invention would be a device the size of a small freezer that could be used to check trucks or shipping containers for radioactive material from a distance of about 3 meters. An advantage of this detector would be that it is insensitive to x-rays, which can cause noise problems for other types of detectors.
