- Detailed Technology Description
- An innovative, moment-resistant and modular system of connection. It consists of pre-fabricated steel corner tubes and face plates (see Figure). It is applicable but not limited to load-bearing elements and is particularly useful in connections between beams and columns. The system is modular both in fabricating the parts and in construction of the frame. Components are geometrically identical which reduces fabrication costs and provides for more economic mass production. The components are bolted into place, avoiding the need for on-site welding and allowing for disassembly at the end of the structure lifetime. The factory-made parts offer high precision with better construction tolerances, making for faster and easier construction. Being a robust moment of connection, the frame constructed using this connection may not need further shear walls or additional bracing.
