Summary

The concept of the Makerspace Management System (MMS) is the result of the need to manage the activities of the DIY community. These could range from the more traditional wood working, metal working and arts and crafts, and contemporary technologies like 3D-printing, electronics and robotics. In order to build a community and nurture the DIY culture, support infrastructures such as tools, equipment and facilities and resources such as raw materials must be readily available. In addition, events, courses and competitions are required to foster a social environment that focuses on using and learning practical skills and applying them to great effect. All this require a system to manage the community, their activities and the available infrastructure and resources provided by the makerspaces.
