Method of producing recombinant biological products
Issued patent
A method of producing a recombinant biological product, which method employs a mammalian producer cell culture, comprises the steps of generating a biomass of mammalian producer during an initial phase of cell culture, and causing an increase in a level of one or more of the miRNA molecules within the mammalian producer cells once a desired concentration of mammalian producer cells has been achieved.

The main commercial application of this work is to generate cell lines stably expressing these miRNAs in either constitutive or inducible formats to be used as future cell factories for the production of biopharmaceuticals. Naturally there are licencing opportunities for the use of this technology to engineer existing proprietary CHO variants e.g. within the biopharmaceutical industry.
