Method for production of alpha-amylase in recombinant bacillus
- Summary
- A novel recombinant Bacillus bacterial strain is constructed by genetic engineering which has high productivity of alpha-amylase. The Bacillus strain comprising an alpha-amylase gene inserted in the Bacillus chromosome under transcriptional control of a phage promoter. An efficient process for the rapid production of large amounts of alpha-amylase is also disclosed.

Title: Method for production of alpha-amylase in recombinant Bacillus
Usefulness: Method for production of alpha-amylase in recombinant Bacillus
Summary: (I) is useful for producing α-amylase, by culturing in a fermentation medium containing an assimilable carbon source and an assimilable nitrogen source, a Bacillus strain comprising an α-amylase gene inserted in the Bacillus chromosome under transcriptional control of a phage promoter. Fermentation is carried out at a pH between 6 and 8, and for a duration between about 10-15 hours. The method further involves separating the α-amylase from the medium. (I) is useful for hydrolyzing starch (claimed).
Novelty: Novel biologically pure culture of Bacillus strain e.g., Bacillus subtilis, for producing alpha-amylase, comprises an alpha-amylase gene inserted into the Bacillus chromosome under transcriptional control of a phage promoter
