The series launched on BBC's dedicated children's channel - CBeebies - on January 5th 2009 and is now the number one rating children's show in the UK! Chugginton features a big cast of characters based on modern trains from around the world. The program follows the adventures of Wilson, Brewster and Koko, three young trainee engines, known as Chuggers. During their adventures they interact with a host of railway friends from the oldest puffing steam engine to the latest sleek bullet train. Chuggington has entertainment and enjoyment at its heart but embedded witin each story are important educational and social messages centred on learning and social-emotional development: inspiring teamwork, confidence, independence and responsibility.
