The Elégance company, nowadays acting on the international market, was founded by the Offergelt brothers in 1938 as a fabric business.
Its head office is located in Düsseldorf, Germany, where a design team creates beautiful prêt-à-porter collections which are presented every season, via fashion catalogue, online and in the company’s worldwide franchise shops and shop-in-shops. Matching accessories, from scarves, shoes, custom jewels to handbags, complete the Elégance product range.
Major milestones on the Elégance road to international success were the foundation of the foreign subsidiaries in France (1954), Austria (1955), Switzerland (1960), Belgium (1973), the United Kingdom (1992) and Japan (1971).
The prêt-à-porter collection premiered in 1970, which also saw the first Elégance catalogue. We launched the licensing business in Asia in 1985, and granting licenses for top-quality products has continuously built up the Elégance brand image in both the Asian and European areas.
The first exclusive Elégance shops opened in several European countries in 1992, and today they can be found in top retail locations in Tokyo, Shanghai, Taipei, Moscow, Helsinki, Lisbon and many other cities .Today there are more than 70 shops throughout the world and Elégance collections and license products are nowadays available in more than 30 countries.
In 2013, Elégance celebrates its 75 year history by launching the new catalogue design and the launch of a younger, more fashionable ready to wear apparel and accessory collection. Soon, the first Elégance Sports collection will be launched under license in the Taiwan market , along with further license business growth in the South East Asian countries.
