Domo-kun first appeared in short stop-motion sketches on 22 December 1998 to mark the 10th anniversary of NHK's satellite broadcasting.

Domo is very popular internationally as well as in Japan. As of 2010, the products are distributed among 22 countries in the world and Domo animation has been broadcast by Nickelodeon, which is the biggest kids TV channel in the world, and has fascinated many young boys and girls worldwide with its character since Oct. 2006.

The market scale based on the sales is approximately 2 billion Yen in the U.S.. Domo is a multi-platform icon and viral superstar and has seamlessly connected with a generation that grew up on the Web and is accustomed to instant gratification.
