Automatic Lamp Detection Method and Optimal Operation for Flurorescent Lamps
Automatic Lamp Detection Method and Optimal Operation for Flurorescent Lamps
The introduction of T5 (High-efficiency) and T5 (High-output) fluorescent lamps has increased the types of commonly used tubular fluorescent lamps from 9 to 18. Since each type of lamp must be powered by a specific ballast design, ballast manufacturers have to design 18 types of ballasts to cover the whole family of lamps. Any mismatch of lamp and ballast will result in equipment failure.
A new technique that can automatically detect all warm-start tubular fluorescent lamps in the lighting market has been successfully developed. Based on this invention, one universal electronic ballast design can detect and control all warm-start fluorescent lamps. Consequently, ballast manufacturers do not have to design so many specific ballasts for the market.
