Nanoporous Materials for Oil Spill Cleanup and Filtering
- Summary
-
This project aims to develop innovative porous nanostructures for oil spill cleanup and filtering. Porous nickel templates with three-dimensional framework and 20-200µm diameter pores will be used as 3-D porous skeleton substrates for growing high-quality ZnO nanostructures with desired size and morphology by a simple and cost-effective hydrothermal method. The oleophilicity and hydrophobicity of the porous nanostructures will be superior to those commonly used oil absorbents such as inorganic minerals, synthetic organic materials and organic vegetable sorbents.
- Technology Application
-
•Effectively absorb gasoline, motor oil, petroleum ether, etc.
•Oil spill cleanup
•Industrial routine oil filtering
•Remove toxic metal ions from polluted water such as Cd2+, Hg2+, Pb2+, As3+, etc.
