Summary

Patients with patellofemoral pain often use knee support braces or sleeves to reduce the friction of knee joints. However, the knee support braces or sleeves may result in reduction in power generation at the joints and limit active flexion. To address the problem, the inventors developed a superelastic knee brace or slleve that adjusts the cross-section and dimension of nickel-titanium (niTi) shape memory alloy (SMA) wires/ rods / bars.
