Wideband Patch Antenna with Meandering Strip Feed
- IP Title
- Wideband Patch Antenna with Meandering Strip Feed
- Summary
-
With the growth of mobile communication services, there is a need to build base stations equipped with more sophisticated antennas to enhance network coverage and to provide greater capacity. Owing to their versile design, light weight, low profile, planar structure and ease of installation, patch antennas have been widely used in modern wireless communications.
The L-probe has a vertical and a horizontal portion. The horizontal portion forms a capacitive reactance that can compensate for the inductive reactance of the vertical portion of the L-shaped probe to achieve a wide impedance bandwidth. In particular, L-shaped probe fed patch antennas can be used as base station antennas for cellular communications, and can be designed with linear or dual polarizations. The bandwidth enhancement lessens the number of antennas and reduces the size of antenna systems in downtown areas.
