Summary: The invention concerns a method and apparatus for controlling the output phase of a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) for use in antenna arrays for receiving radio signals. Such arrays can converge energy, receive signals, and reject interference. Beam-forming techniques using phase shifters are used to implement an adaptive receiving array but its use is limited by the high cost, complexity and high insertion loss of microwave phase shifters. To overcome the shortcomings of current beam-forming techniques, a method for controlling the output phase of a VCO in a controlled manner is proposed.
