Summary

A surface absorption modifier is developed to treat highly absorbent aggregates, and this patent concerns the application process of the surface modifier. Traditionally, aggregates such as sand and gravels are used to produce concrete but the decrease in granite supply leads to the application of recycled and light weight aggregates. However, the new class of aggregates is highly absorbent. To solve the problem, a surface absorption modifier, as well as its application process, is developed. An impermeable coating will be formed at a distance from the aggregate surface to avoid the formation of “wall effect” on the surface. The application process covers both the modifier absorption stage and the cleaning stage.
