Summary

The heat-reclaim liquid-filled glazing system includes a double-pane window glazing with a water-to-water heat exchanger. Two distribution headers are connected to the heat exchanger through insulated distribution tubes attached to the two sides of the window frame. The sealed space between the glass panes, the heat exchanger and the distribution tubing form an enclosure fully filled with a heat removal liquid, such as water. In sunny days, thermosyphon-induced liquid can flow from the glazing up to the heat exchanger through which the feed water of a hot water system is heated in advance. The inner glass pane can be equipped with a solar film or low-emissivity coating to strengthen the heat absorption capability of the circulating liquid flow. In this way, the heat transmission through the glazing can be reduced, and more importantly, the heat removed can subsequently pass on to the hot water system. The air-conditioning loading for indoor space is reduced. The quality of daylight can be enhanced since the double clear glass pane and water only slightly affect the visible light spectrum of the transmitted solar radiation.
